YOUTH NEWS & EVENTS!

OLGA 5K or 10K Friday, December 18th, 2009

Have a story about Olga or want to report about the event in English or Hebrew? Send to me jwolf@wizevents.com and I will place it here on our page. Mazal tov to Hillel Shenkolevsky who placed first in the male 13 and younger category, Gavriella Wolf who placed 3rd in the female 13 and younger category, and Nili Block who placed first in the female 14-19 category.

Chevron 5K

Chevron's first running event, The Chevron 5K, had a light turnout of 60 runners but was very inspiring running through these ancient streets. The BS Running Club showed up with 9 runners including all 3 women participants in the event. Gavriella Wolf, 12.5 years old, had a great run despite the courses' incredible inclines and declines. Although extremely challenging and not a course you can do a PR, Gavriella commented, "the chance to run past Ma'arat Hamachpela is amazing. I hope many more choose to take part next year."

Winning our first Best Team Trophy at Merootz Gezer

On Friday, May 15th, 2009 the Bet Shemesh Running Club (BSRC) scored its first trophy for best team results. This accomplishment was due in large part to the large number of our youth who turned out. Actually only 3 adults from the club took part.

With commanding placement in finishing the 10K, 5K, and 2K we nudged out the other teams to take the win. Talia Krasna won first place in Girls 19 and younger for the 10K. In the 5K race Talia Pollack took Womens 3rd place overall and 1st place for girls 19 and younger followed by Rivka Goldberg in 2nd, and Gavriella Wolf in 3rd. Yonaton Link took 3rd in the Boys 19 and younger group for the 5K. We took 1-3rd for the girls 11 and younger in the 2K race with Tehilla Wolf, Noa Pollack, and Ayelet Wolf. Although we didn't all walk home with trophys in every class everyone had fantastic times and tremendous attitudes that saw many finishing in the top 10 of their age groups and overall. Take a look at the photos from that special day out in the fields in our photo section.
